Nutrition is Essential for Healing

Dr. Michael Wald believes that virtually all health problems are either caused or at least worsened by nutritional problems. Foods, nutritional supplements, as well as various lifestyle factors may either promote or interfere with your healing process. Nutrition and natural approaches may not be the “first line” medical therapy for a given health problem. Each person’s individual health needs will vary depending upon genetics, use of medications, exercise, stress levels and other individual factors.

The Edge – Blood Logic Interpretation

Dr. Wald utilizes his software computer program called, Blood Logic that compares your blood test results to average people of your sex (this is how standard labs compare you) as well as against “healthy people” blood ranges that are different than average individuals. Hidden problems may be uncovered with both techniques of blood interpretation are utilized at the same time.

Targeting Your Specific Needs

Dr. Wald says, “it is essential that all natural approaches target your specific needs including what and how you eat and the types, amounts and timing of nutritional supplements that you may be asked to consume”. Dr. Wald will often combine his natural therapies alongside the “standard medical care” of any health condition.

Consultation and Testing a Winning Combination

Dr. Wald believes that in order to get healthy in the least amount of time, and as naturally as possible, it is important to “personalize” the approach. According to Dr. Wald, “one size does not fit all as far as natural healing methods are concerned. My approach to your health is what I call the, Blood Detective method.  My original Blood Detective method is actually very simple and involves only three (3) essential steps towards gaining and maintaining health.

The first step is for you and I to have a thorough health conversation reviewing your responses to my Blood Detective Health Questionnaires.

The second step is for me to carefully and holistically interpret the nutritional meaning of your responses to my questions.

And finally, to perform any holistic-nutrition tests that help me ‘target’ your needs in terms of foods, supplements, exercise and other lifestyle improvements.” Dr. Wald has learned over his 30-plus yrs of clinical experience to develop natural healing plans that can be implemented into one’s life relatively easily and effectively.   Achlorhydria/ Hypochlorhydria Low stomach acid is a common problem in people of all ages especially in men and women over the age of 50 yrs. Low stomach acid can cause malnutrition and malabsorption and can be caused by many reasons. This condition results in malabsorption and can be caused by a variety of issues including gluten intolerance or celiac disease, autoimmune diseases of a number of varieties, “abnormal” aging and others. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Acne bulgaris AB is a condition that is very troublesome and stressful to the person effected. This condition results in blocked pores, excessive skin oils and skin cells. The causes are many ranging from digestive and immune problems and inflammation. Natural therapies must be directed to the cause or causes of the given individual that may vary from one person to another.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Acne rosacea Antibiotics and anti-acne medications are the typical treatments for this condition. Natural therapies focus on the causes of the facial redness that range from niacin sensitivity, to excessive visible blood vessels. Immune, digestive and vasodilating chemistry are also the focus of natural approaches.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS/HIV infection) AIDS/HIV is a condition known to involve a virus that injuries the immune system. Medications are available that have significantly extended the life of the infected. Nutrition in various forms, ranging from hormones, foods and vitamins and minerals, have shown to positively affect many aspects of this condition. Personalizing dietary, exercise, nutritional supplements and other lifestyle factors has demonstrated to reduce symptoms and help regulate the immune system when used in support of medications.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Acute musculoskeletal injuries Muscles, nerves, tendons and ligaments require certain nutritional factors to optimize healing. The best medical and even natural approaches are limited without also focusing on the nutritional needs of the individuals. Natural therapies are used by Dr. Wald to provide nutrition to reduce inflammation, promote tissue healing, repair and pain.
ADD/ADHD These conditions are known to partly involve abnormalities in brain and gut neurotransmitters. Amino acids in the diet as well as certain forms of fatty acids are just two of the many dozens of natural approaches that show promise towards balancing behavior, sleep, sensitivities and brain health.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Allergies Allergies, according to Dr. Wald, are the masqueraders of many diseases and conditions. This means that food and environmental allergies can trigger biochemical events, including inflammation and immune system responses, that can cause health problems ranging from digestive, neurological, hormonal, skin, mood and memory and many other health problems. Testing and non-testing (elimination-reintroduction) may be considered to identify allergens; but, once identified the correct natural therapies must be provided that go beyond the simple identification and removal of allergic triggers. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
ALS This condition involves neurological degeneration. A large number of foods and nutritional supplements have been shown to be of benefit for ALS perhaps slowing the course of the condition. Toxins, metals, inflammatory mediators and other triggers of the breakdown of the nervous should be targeted and managed.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Anxiety Anxiety may have genetic underpinnings that may be influenced by diet, lifestyle and emotional connections. Certain neurotransmitters have been found deficient in some of those with anxiety. The natural and nutritional influences upon anxiety should always be identified and focused on by personalizing the natural approach.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Arthritis There are many forms of arthritis ranging from “wear and tear” arthritis like osteoarthritis to autoimmune forms including rheumatoid, gout and others. Each personal who suffers from arthritis has individual nutritional needs that must be identified and focused upon for the best healing outcome. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Asthma Asthma maybe either an intrinsic or extrinsic type, but both forms are helped or worsened by environmental conditions ranging from weather, emotional stress, allergens and other triggers. The adrenal glands are part of the asthmatic response as is inflammation and increased need for a variety of nutritional compounds ranging from zinc to vitamin C. The types and extent of dietary, nutritional supplement and lifestyle changes depends upon the individuals external environment and internal chemistry. Natural therapies are often very effective for the alleviation of asthma.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Autism Autism is a spectrum disorder that involves many areas of the body including the brain and gastrointestinal tract. The brain is capable of repair as the process of neuroplasticity. Various nutrients can help to support the nervous system, neurotransmitters and other aspects of neurological function. Natural treatments must be based upon each individual affected with autism and adjusted as needed over time. The need for essential fatty acids and amino precursors of neurotransmitters are just two fundamental nutritional areas that have great clinical progress – in other words, many studies have indicated that nutrition plays a significant role in autism and natural therapies.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.

B

Borelia (tick disease) Tick diseases are extremely common and often go undetected for weeks, months or years. The longer the infection the worse the physical effects particularly involving those of the nervous and immune system. Immunoglobin tests of IgG and IgA tell whether the infection is long standing (chronic) or more acute (recent). Nutritional and natural therapies must focus on the current state of health of the individual affected and his/her diet, stress levels and other lifestyle factors. Foods and various nutriceuticals have shown promise in reducing the initial effects of a tick born infection as well as improve the infectious period (by reducing the extent of symptoms) and speeding recovery from infection. Furthermore, the after effects of of this tick infection can cause “chronic tick disease” so nutritional therapies must include a concentration on recovery in the form of short and long term healing. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Burns Burns increase the need for zinc, proteins and anti inflammatory nutrients. Burn victims in studies have far better outcomes if nutritional issues are addressed or even only when nutrition is improved in a general way (and not specific to the individual) with a burn. Scar formation is also improved with proper nutritional care.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.

C

Cancer* There are hundreds of different forms of cancer and no two individuals with the same cancer diagnosis experience cancer the same way; and, the nutritional considerations for each person must be specific to that person’s unique individual needs during cancer. Given this fact, it is not correct to say that “this or that” food(s) or nutrient(s) is “best” for “cancer”. Extensive consultation with Dr. Wald together with additional questionnaires and individualized testing efforts are all important for personalizing nutritional care for the individual who receives and does not receive either or or both radiation and chemotherapy. Nutrition can both help and hurt cancer, and can be a waste of time and money, if not idealized specifically for the given individual.
Candidiasis This fungal infection comes in many forms ranging from finger/toe, under the arms and on the skin surface, in the vagina and sinuses and gastrointestinal tract just to name a few. In all cases, immunity must be investigated and supported nutritionally and at time when combined with medication (as a last resort). Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Cardiac arrhythmia Cardiac issues involving heart rhythms are a common cause of heart attack, chest pain and clots. The role of diet and exercise as well as nutritional supplements can and often do play a key role in preventing complications from cardia rhythm abnormalities including tachycardia and bradycardia as well as other abnormal heart rhythms. The use of certain foods and nutritional supplements are carefully determine by Dr. Wald.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Cardiomyopathy Cardiomyopathy is a cardiac condition that affects heart muscle. Lifestyle as well as genetic and other factors are known to be a cause of heart wall abnormalities. A large number of scientific studies have demonstrated that exercise and the use of proper diet and personalize nutritional supplements can offset the effects of many forms of cardiomyopathy. Hormones, vitamins, minerals and specific foods are just part of the natural approach to this heart condition.
Cardiovascular Diseasehttp://drmichaelwald.com/heart-disease-ch…atural-solutions Cardiovascular disease is still considered the number one cause of death among men and women in the United States. The causes of cardiovascular disease are varied and include, but are not limited to, genetic predisposition, lack of exercise, and proper and excessive exercise, poor diet and the lack of any number of vitamins, nutrients or other nutraceuticals. Careful consideration is taken by Dr. Wald to personalize his nutritional recommendations for each person.
Carpal tunnel syndrome Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful condition that may cause pain in the wrist and of the hands and arms and may also involve neck and head pain. Carpel tunnel may be present on one side or both sides of the body. Causes range from wear-and-tear from overuse as well as hormonal issues (i.e., hypothyroidism) and a autoimmune conditions. The proper use of lifestyle including personalized nutritional approaches can reduce inflammation, cartilage destruction and compression of nerves and blood vessels within the carpel tunnel and throughout the body.

Celiac disease

Intro to Gluten

Celiac disease is a genetic condition of gluten intolerance that commonly affects the small intestinal absorption cells, the skin and thyroid, but can affect any tissue. Identification and removal of gluten is necessary, but incomplete. Often by the time a person finds out that they have celiac disease other health problems have resulted such as depression, fatigue, slow healing, hormonal issues, autoimmune problems and even cancer. Dr Wald’s approach to celiac disease is to identify any nutritional deficiencies and additional conditions that have resulted secondarily from celiac disease. Dr. Wald believes that non-celiac gluten intolerance is far more common in the population compared to celiac disease, but the treatments for each are identical.
Cellulitis Cellulitis is an infection of the skin accompanied by inflammation and reddening. Antibiotics are often necessary for treatment and natural therapies, when provided correctly, are thought to offset antibiotic resistance, leaky gut syndrome and SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). Cellulitis may be more common in those with weakened immune systems, poor diet and a variety of other conditions including diabetes and circulation issues. Dr. Wald provides nutrition for individuals with cellulitis targeted to its cause.
Cerebrovascular disease Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) is a term describing a variety of health conditions of the heart and blood vessels. Weakened heart muscle, abnormalities with heart electrical rhythms, hardening, thickness and blockage of arteries are all considered CVD and the treatments must be specific to the cause(s) of CVD in the individual. Proper exercise targeted for the persons age, health goals and current physical condition are all essential as is reduction of stress and improvements of diet. Dr. Wald performs specialized tests of cardiovascular age, blood thickness (viscosity) and ejection strength of heart chambers so that he may target the correct lifestyle including diet and nutritional supplements for your needs. One must go beyond cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides and LDL levels as these are just one group of factors (lipids) that are often involved in heart attack and stroke.
Cervical dysplasia CD is a condition that describes abnormal cells that are detected upon biopsy of the cervical cells. Dysplastic cells are not cancer. but they are also not considered a “normal finding” and can lead to metaplasia which is cancerous. Viruses and hormones have both been implicated in causing abnormal cell formation. Various nutrients including zinc and phytonutrients have showed promise in reversing cellular changes.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Cervical pain Neck pain is a common problems with a variety of causes including muscle spasm, nerve pressure (with or without radiation) and vascular issues.  Neck pain can also be caused by problems outside of the neck area including circulation and blood sugar issues, autoimmune disease and literally dozens of other causes. Depending upon the cause(s) Dr. Wald targets your biochemistry so that he may provide specific nutrition that focuses on the healing process. Improvements in inflammation, circulation, nervous system function and lymphatic drainage may all be involved in chronic neck pain.
Chiropractic care Dr. Wald has been a licensed doctor of chiropractic for over 30-yrs. He is a skilled and second-generation chiropractor who provides diversified chiropractic (clicking and cracking type) along with acupressure, kinesiology and cranial-sacral technique. Dr. Wald uses sonogram for the detection of musculoskeletal issues often avoiding x-rays; however, Dr. Wald will order x-rays, MRI and CT scans if needed. Dr. Wald also includes electrotherapy when needed along with exercise and lifestyle instruction. Improved nutrition allows Dr. Wald to improve patient response to his methods of treatments as all tissues of the body respond better to musculo-skeletal care when nutrition is improved.
Cholelithiasis, intrahepatic Gallstones are a frequent occurrence in the population and can be caused by liver and gallbladder disease, under- hydration, genetic factors and diet among other causes. Depending upon your current health situation Dr. Wald targets his natural and nutritional care for faster recovery and prevention of future gallstone occurrences. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Cholesterol, elevated High cholesterol may be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. High cholesterol may be caused by genetics, lack of physical fitness, overweight and obesity, toxins and inflammation just to name a few. Your cholesterol levels including your HDL, LDL, triglycerides are part of a comprehensive cardiovascular workup. Many people with heart attacks and stroke have normal lipid levels (fats), but may have atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries) and/or blood viscosity (thickness) issues. Dr. Wald targets his natural therapies including stress reduction, exercise, food and nutritional supplements to the cause(s) of your cardiovascular condition. Virtually all forms of cardiovascular disease respond to nutrition and sometimes nutrition is best combined with medications depending upon each individual situation.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) CFS is a general term describing the experience of lasting fatigue in a person. The causes of chronic fatigue are many including, but not limited to, sluggish thyroid and/or adrenal function, dehydration, lack of good nutrition and overall caloric intake, dietary composition, stress, medications and a large number of health problems. Dr. Wald investigates the cause(s) of your CFS and targets his natural treatment plan based upon a large number of factors that may cause and or worsen your CF. Autoimmune diseases, cancer, hormonal problems, digestive issues such as malabsorption are all associated with CFS. If a specific cause of your CFS is not found then it is termed primary CFS, but if one or more causes are found then the condition is termed secondary CFS.
Chronic neuromusculoskeletal injuries (NMSI) All tissues of the body require nutrition for ongoing healing and repair during our aging process. Deficiencies of proteins, water, vitamins and minerals can all contribute to NMSI in terms of healing response as well as susceptibility to injury in the first place. Dr. Wald uses various chiropractic techniques and combines them with dietary and other lifestyle improvements including exercise instruction, physical and physiotherapy and nutritional supplements when needed.
Cirrhosis, hepatic The liver is a very resilient organ that can be kept healthy with certain dietary and lifestyle measures including the proper use of certain herbs and other nutritional products and diet. Once the cause(s) of liver/hepatic cirrhosis is identified natural therapies can be targeted. Inflammation is always a factor in cirrhosis as is scaring and other physiological changes.
Cold, acute-and influenza Various viruses can respond to dietary and nutritional improvements that focus on the immune system and inflammatory control. If you are experiencing chronic and or recurring viral infection you may be suffering from an immune issue(s) and/or other health problem that is increasing your susceptibility to viruses. Dr. Wald will thoroughly evaluate your situation and provide nutritional advice to help improve your immune function.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Congestive heart failure Cardiovascular disease is still considered the number one cause of death among men and women in the United States. Congestive heart failure often results in sudden death or shorting of lifespan. The earlier the natural and medical interventions the better the clinical outcome for a patient.
Constipation Constipation is a common problem and is the most common condition seen by gastroenterologists. Dr. Wald recognizes that treating the cause(s) of constipation is the best option for treatment. Causes include, dehydration, lack of dietary fiber, excessive refined foods consumption, neurological and hormonal problems, autoimmune diseases and others. Dr. Wald will diligently investigate the cause(s) of your constipation and will provide you with natural solutions.
Crohn’s disease (CD) CD is an inflammatory autoimmune condition of the large intestines, but may also involve the small intestines. CD often flares up without any obvious trigger and is often difficult to treat medically. Dr. Wald’s approach to CD involves blood work to look for autoimmune and inflammation involvement as well as nutritional issues that may have causes or resulted in CD exasserbations. It is not known what causes CD, but focusing on the nutrition of the affected individual using natural approaches if often successful for relieving the pain and discomfort of CD and reducing occurrences.
Cystitis Cystitis is an inflammatory condition of the urinary tract often caused by an infection. Recurrent cystitis may indicate sexually transmitted disease(s), anatomical problem with the woman’s anatomy, poor health hygiene among other causes. Through careful health history and testing Dr. Wald investigates the cause(s) of your cystitis and recommends natural methods to improve your immune system and reduce inflammation. Sometimes cystitis may be secondary to other health problems, such as autoimmune disease or diabetes. Dr .Wald believes that treating the root cause of cystitis offers the best ongoing solution to this health problem.

Depression Depression is an all too common mental health problem and has many causes and triggers including genetics, dietary and various lifestyle factors/stressors. Sometimes antidepressant medication are need and at other times improvements in diet and lifestyle seem to do the trick.  If depression is causes secondary to protein deficiency, causing a deficiency of neurotransmitters, then dietary interventions including nutritional supplements and diet may be of significant help. Deficiencies of essential fatty acids and amino acids/proteins can cause or worsen depression along with life stress, lack of exercise and other mental-emotional conditions.
Dermatitis herpetiformis This is a condition of the nervous system that results from gluten intolerance of celiac disease. The removal of gluten and gluten related products is 100% necessary for cure. Often with gluten intolerance/celiac disease the condition may go undetected/unrecognized for many years causing a wide variety of other health problems that require their individual attention. Thyroid issues, intestinal, hormonal and neurological problems are just a few of the other secondary conditions that may occur along with DH. Dr. Wald attempts to identify associated health problems from gluten ingestion and targets nutrition, nutritional supplements and other natural therapies.
Detoxification-environmental Detoxification refers to the removal of unwanted or outright toxic substances that are either in our external environment (exogenous) or made within your body (endogenous). The detoxification effort MUST be targeted to the toxins(s) involved in your health problem(s). For example, heavy metals like mercury are removed/detoxified with specific chelators (substances that bind to the material); but, lead or arsenic may need different detoxifiers/chelators. If estrogens need detoxification then yet different nutrition and focus is required. There is no “one size fits all” way of detoxifying the whole body. Also, improving intestinal elimination may be desirable, but this is not detoxification – it is instead elimination. Dr. Wald will investigate whichever toxins he believes you may have been, or are currently, exposed to tailoring his natural plan to your needs.
Detoxification-general cleansing programs Detoxification refers to the removal of unwanted or outright toxic substances that are either in our external environment (exogenous) or made within your body (endogenous). The detoxification effort MUST be targeted to the toxins(s) involved in your health problem(s). For example, heavy metals like mercury are removed/detoxified with specific chelators (substances that bind to the material); but, lead or arsenic may need different detoxifiers/chelators. Also, improving intestinal elimination may be desirable, but this is not detoxification – it is instead elimination. Dr. Wald will investigate whichever toxins he believes you may have been, or are currently, exposed to tailoring his natural plan to your needs. COLONICS may be harmful as they stretch out the intestinal track potentially leading to leaky gut issues and worsening or causing other health problems. Colonics also weaken the intestinal muscular lining because the colonic stretches out the bowel wall. Finally, colonics are rarely recommended by Dr. Wald because they remove a significant portion of the intestinal healthy flora and mucous protective layer in the bowel that is rich in the immune molecule IgA. Dr. Wald says, “having a series of colonics and putting back some probiotics and herbs is not even close to what is needed to help repair and restore the gut function.”
Diabetes Diabetes is a collection of conditions that involve the immune system, hormonal issues and often blood sugar dysregulation. Diabetes if often present with one or more complicating conditions in a given individual. Also, it must be understood that all types of diabetes carry with them various symptoms and tissue involvement that Dr .Wald targets his nutritional and natural therapies against. Blood sugar elevations can be caused by many factors OTHER THAN sugar intake including, but not limited to, inflammation, pollution, stress, lack of lean body mass and many nutritional and health issues.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.

Disc herniation (spine) Disc herniation involve various degrees of rupture and/or injury of the intervertebral disc located between two vertebrae of the spine. Degenerative joint disease and acute or chronic injuries can result in disc herniation. Chiropractic therapy may be appropriate for certain cases of disc herniation. Dr. Wald always combines improved nutrition to enhance healing of injured discs and associated soft tissues. Dr. Wald combines nutrition along with chiropractic to help insure that the injured tissues are nutritionally sound for a potentially faster and complete response to Dr. Wald’s healing therapies.
Diverticular disease (DD) DD is a condition of the large intestine where the diverticular or outpockets of the colon are enlarged and or inflamed causing pain and disruption of intestine function. Causes might include seeds that get caught in the diverticula, but a number of environmental factors along with genetics may contribute to its development. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Down’s syndrome (DS) DS is a genetic condition of chromosome number 21 called non-disjunction. People with DS often have shorter lives than average due to what seems to be a tendency to age more quickly. There is a marked increase in anti-oxidant nutrition needs that should be tailored for the individual with DS as no two persons affected are exactly alike nutritionally speaking. Dementia is also much more common in DS patients compared to the unaffected population. There are a large number of scientific studies proving that nutrition plays a major role in the course of DS. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Dysmenorrhea This condition describes problems such as DUB (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) caused by any number of health triggers. Aging, medications and autoimmune disease can be associated with the uterine contractions that occur in women suffering from this condition. Dr. Wald considers dietary changes, various herbs and nutritional supplements, toxins and other potential causes and triggers when developing his holistic plan.
Dyspepsia Dyspepsia goes by various names including gastrointestinal reflux, silent reflux, ERD (esophageal reflux disease) and others. The potential causes of ERD are many and can include poor diet, excessive eating, poor gastric motility, constipation, low stomach acid (yes, LOW) and it is often associated with many health problems. Once Dr .Wald discovers the underlying cause(s) of your ERD he targets natural and nutritional approaches. “The natural approach for each person may be slightly or significantly different and should always be target to the cause(s). A combination of food choices, food allergies and even neurological problems can cause or be associated with the development of ERD.

Eating Disorders Eating disorders are a pervasive problem in society due to genetics and environmental conditions. Poor coping mechanisms contribute to eating disorders as may many other emotional health problems. The nutritional and scientific literature supports the use of carefully designed dietary improvements along with nutritional supplements towards improvement of brain chemistry and overall health. Dr. Wald believes that it is important to base  nutritional therapies for persons with eating disorders on the their actual needs and to implement these changes very carefully; otherwise, eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia nervosa have the potential to become worse.
Eczema Eczema is a common skin condition with no single cause. Dr. Wald believes that eczema is an expression of “inflammation gone wild“ and likely involves immune dysregulation. Dr. Wald’s experience and review of the scientific literature demonstrate that the proper use of various nutrients including, but not limited to, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, vitamin A, carnitine and vitamin D, that when personalized to the individual, can go a long way towards improving eczema. Dr. Wald is found that different people with an eczema diagnosis respond to nutrition very differently requiring an individualized approach.
Ehrlichiosis Ehrilichosis is a tick born disease that can permanently damage the nervous system and create immune dysregulation. Symptoms may vary from overall muscle and joint aches and pains, skin rashes, fatigue, brain fog and many other symptoms.  Each person is affected differently and recovers differently from tickborne diseases and this is why Dr. Wald believes that nutritional efforts must focus on immune and inflammation and overall tissue repair.  Many people falsely believe that they have a chronic tick borne infection when they are actually suffering from the long-term damage of infections even though the tick infection itself may be long gone; given this fact, Dr. Wald works hard to uncover many potential infections in his patients.  Dr. Wald provides nutritional therapies focused on enhancing healing for those exposed to multiple tick infections based upon careful laboratory testing and his 30-plus yrs of clinical experience.  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Emphysema Emphysema is a lung condition that involves chronic inflammation and poor lung tissue healing. Emphysema may be primary or may be secondary to other health problems such as autoimmune disease. Quality of life is often dramatically reduced in suffers motivating Dr. Wald towards the safest and fastest natural solutions possible. Dr. Wald has researched the scientific and nutritional literature and has found a large body of evidence that supports the use of nutrition towards improving emphysema. Some patients may require a combination of medication with nutrition for best results.
Endometriosis Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that forms the uterus is found outside of the uterus. This often results in severe abdominal pain and discomfort and cramping and sometimes dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Dr. Wald develops natural healing plans for endometriosis targeted on reduction of inflammation and hormonal balance. There may be other factors involved in endometriosis that Dr. Wald will include in his total approach to this condition.
Epilepsy Epilepsy is actually a group of conditions characterized by seizures. Seizures have many causes including scarring in the brain, vascular and inflammatory issues and often have hormonal, environmental and nutritional connections. Neuroplasticity is a term that describes how the brain and nervous system can heal and repair itself. According to Dr. Wald, various nutrients, foods and other lifestyle measures that support neuroplasticity often include omega-3 fatty acids, medium chain triglycerides, carnitine, zinc and other specific nutritional compounds. Based upon the total health picture of the seizure patient, as well as the wealth nutritional supports, Dr. Wald has learned over his 30 year career that a carefully designed natural approach is needed for successful nutritional treatments for seizures. Dr .Wald often works with your neurologist if this means an improved natural treatment plan for seizure suffers.
Epistaxis (nose bleed) Nose bleeds can be caused by such very conditions as nasal dryness, predominant blood vessels in the sinus cavity, allergies and possibly bleeding disorders just to name a few. Both medical and nutritional therapies must be focused on the cause of cause(s) of nosebleeds. Dr. Wald creates individualized healing plans that target the cause(s) of nosebleeds that always includes a properly balanced nutritional plan.
Epstein-Barr virus infection Epstein bar virus is a common virus that has been linked as a causative factor for literally dozens of health problems ranging from herpes lesions, a long list of immune and neurological problems, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia and various cancers just to name a few. Dr. Wald says that many physicians seem unaware that the presence of Epstein-Barr immunoglobin-G upon laboratory testing may be associated with a worst clinical course of the infection. Physicians, generally speaking, are taught that the presence of immunoglobin-G means past exposure, but it means more than that (according to Dr. Wald and the medical literature). Immunoglobin-M Epstein bar laboratory findings or more often associated with acute or fairly new cases of infection. Each individual may respond very differently to Epstein-Barr infection and that is why natural treatments must be focused upon each person’s unique expression of this infection. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Erectile dysfunction Erectile dysfunction is a common disorder among men and has varied causes ranging from emotional issues such as depression and anxiety to various neurologic issues, vascular issues hormonal issues and others. The successful natural treatment of erectile dysfunction must carefully consider the cause(s) of this condition in a given person.  Dr. Wald carefully individualizes his natural treatments often including life coaching, dietary changes and nutritional supplement advice. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.

Fasting – intermittent, etc. Interrmittent fasting can be a very valuable effort towards improving overall health and wellbeing. To do this right, Dr. Wald believes that the specific types of foods along with their timing plus nutritional supplements are necessary to optimize your health efforts. The length of time of the intermittent fasting effort should be based upon the health goal. Whether or not nutritional supplements and exercise are used also depends upon the specific health goal. Dr. Wald says, “I have had patients over my 30 plus year experience that have limited their diets during their fasting efforts causing nutritional deficiencies. IF has the potential to be part of a health plan ‘speeding up’ the healing process.”  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Fibrocystic breast disease (FBD) FBD is a common benign condition of the breast that many women, and some men, experience during the life cycle. FBD itself may be benign, but it can obscure a doctors visual inspection (of an MRI or mammography) such that it may hide cancerous findings. According to Dr. Wald, “FBD is often worsened by poor diet, caffeine and vitamin E deficiency/insufficiency. FBD also seems to be associated with cystic formation throughout the body and involves an inflammatory process. Natural and nutritional therapies have shown promise for reducing the formation of more cystic changes and potentially resolving existing fibrocystic changes.”
Fibroids Fibroids are fibrocystic tumors that commonly are found in the lining of the uterus. Dr. Wald believes that fibroids represent inflammatory changes that may involve acid-base issues in the body. Attention directed to reducing overall body inflammation and balancing hormones naturally can offer great potential for fibroid resolution – with or without standard medical therapies in combination. Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Fibromyalgia (FM) FM is a condition characterized by the presence of chronic fatigue along with the presence of trigger points (spastic muscle bundles). FM can be primary meaning that its symptoms do not appear to be caused secondary to another condition or, FM may result from another condition and this is called secondary FM. Dr. Wald has learned over his 30-yr plus career that there are many subforms of FM having various causes. Some of the causes of secondary FM include, but are not limited to, low thyroid function, weak adrenal glands, various hormonal abnormalities, poor inflammatory control, acid-base (pH) issues in the blood, blood sugar issues and vy various toxins and allergies. “It is essential that the cause(s) of FM are discovered and focused on to potentially resolve this condition.”  Please see the description at the top of this page to read about Dr. Wald’s generalized, but personalized approach to this condition.
Food allergies Food allergies is a general terms that describe the bodies immune reaction to specific foods. Food allergies, by definition, involve reactions of the immune system, but also are promoted by acute and chronic inflammation, leaky gut syndrome, SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). According to Dr. Wald, “first, it is essential to identify allergic foods and to realize that often allergies are caused by poor digestion and thus require the use of various specialized oral enzymes, probiotics and other nutraceuticals. Food allergy tests are not particularly accurate. In fact, if you have poor digestive capacity foods may cause food allergic reactions caused by enzyme deficiencies and secondarily cause allergic responses. I good look at these and other factors in your health history paint the picture of what exactly needs to be done to resolve food allergies and their associated symptoms.”

The uric acid is in crystal form and when in circulation literally damages the blood vessels and tissues to which the blood flow is directed – and this is everywhere in the body. Joints are commonly affected especially of the big toe, knee and other joints. Colchicine and allopurinol are two of a few drugs used in mainstream medicine and they have been proving helpful for symptoms of gout. These medications are associated with causing deficiencies of B12 and folic acid that may further result in neuropathy (nerve damage) as well as kidney issues. Diet is well established to help reduce the formation of uric crystals and various concentrates of nutritional supplements have also proved very useful. “With each patient with gout that I work with I perform testing to help clarify what
Gut dysbiosis (GD) GD is a term referring to a chronic inflammatory condition of the gut (usually the small and large intestines) that involves overgrowth of bad bacterial and often fungal organisms. The condition can be caused by a large number of conditions and triggers including, but not limited to, food allergies, low stomach acid, deficiency of pancreatic enzymes, poor diet, emotional and physical stress, toxins (both those made in and out of the body) and others. “The natural approach to GD must be focused on the cause(s) and the appropriate dietary and nutritional supplements provided. Natural treatments may vary greatly among those who suffer from GD and should thus be managed according to the individuals exacting nutritional needs.
